Firmingers are employed as Cost Manager on New Stores and Store Refurbishments throughout the UK and Ireland.
Firmingers have been acting for Boots for more than 50 years and have delivered many hundreds of projects. Boots are based in Nottingham and continue to develop new designs and strategies for customers. Boots always try to keep stores open during refits and Firmingers have developed a unique understanding of how to estimate, procure and cost manage projects. Projects can vary from £30k to £5 million but each scheme is treated with the same care. Boots have utilised procurement techniques that ensure good value and good quality while protecting the business.
Firmingers are employed to act as lead cost manager overseeing work produced by two other QS Practices to ensure continuity and programme targets are achieved.
Firmingers are currently involved in a large 150 store beauty roll out which is being procured on a fast track basis. Firmingers flexibility has enabled the Practice to provide the resource necessary to meet the Client’s demanding and stringent timescales to ensure delivery.
In 2015 Firmingers were involved in a number of new build & roll out projects including:
- Sales area refits (ongoing programme now in its seventh year) – specifically allocated to Firmingers were 56 projects circa £4.4m. The programme for which Firmingers act as overall cost managers, this covered 118 projects circa £9.4m
- Opticians (stand alone and implants) – 16 projects circa £3.7m
- Opticians refits – 35 projects circa £3.2m
- New fit outs including consolidation of stores – 9 projects circa £4.3m
