Primrose Hospice – Bromsgrove

2011 – Family Support Centre annex – £750k

The construction of the Family Support annex building provided facilities for family support clients attending counselling for one-to-one or family/ group support, receiving therapy or financial advice. It includes library, an education department and office space.

 

2015 – Garden room extension/ works to dining room & accessible toilet – £550k

This project provided a quiet area and garden room for clients visiting the Hospice. In addition, there are nurses’ offices to the first floor of the new extension. The works also included a new flat roof with skylights applied to the existing dining room and a new toilet and refurbishment works to the existing accessible toilet of the existing lounge area. The project provided toilet facilities and storage for hoists and wheelchairs as required by the Hospice.

Pasque Hospice – Luton

2009 – New In Patients Unit – £2m

Firmingers provided cost consultancy services for the construction of a new adult In-Patient Unit at Pasque Hospice, Luton in 2009. The works included 8 new en-suite bedrooms and associated space for their ancillary services.  This included storage rooms, drug control areas a new nurse base, plus quiet spaces for patients and their guests.  External works comprised a new access road and patio areas outside each bedroom. Costing £2m, the project was completed over 42 weeks under the standard form of Building Contract with Quantities

St Giles Hospice – Lichfield

New In-Patient unit (Compasses Centre) extension – £6m

Firmingers worked as cost managers on the new In-Patient unit called the Compasses Centre at St Giles Hospice in 2011. The £6m development was designed as a major extension to the existing Hospice, creating a 27-bed unit as well as providing an integrated new day therapy and training facility.  The scheme also provided an enclosed private garden.

In 2018 we provided further cost planning services for a proposed refurbishment scheme at the Hospice, totalling £340k.

Mary Stevens Hospice – Stourbridge

Phases 1 & 2 : £1.0m & phases 3 & 4 : £2.5m

Firmingers have worked with Mary Stevens Hospice since 2015 acting as cost managers on extension builds, refurbishment and alteration schemes with values up to £2.5m. Taking a collaborative approach the project team delivered the phased schemes within the parameters of the approved budget, significantly improving access to the Mary Stevens Hospice high quality care.

Improvements have been made to the reception area, counselling rooms and entrance as well as more recently the refurbishment of its day care rooms & therapy rooms. The new extension to the building has also better accommodated the ‘Hospice at home’ team.

In 2018 we provided further cost planning services for a proposed education department refurbishment scheme at the Hospice.

St Luke’s Hospice – Basildon

Firmingers provided cost management services on the new annex at St Luke’s Hospice in 2014. The two-storey self-contained building accessible from the car park and linked to the Day Hospice was constructed totalling £750k. These essential works provided additional space to support a range of therapies and patient, carers, and family services.

St Richards Hospice – Worcester

2005     Construction of the main hospice including car park

2010     Snowdrop Community care annex – £750k

The community annex was a two storey extension with a link at first floor plus additional associated car parking. The building accommodates a series of therapy rooms and support offices for the nurses and workers who provide care in the community and for visitors to the centre.

 

2012 – In-Patient Unit – £850k

The In-Patient Unit houses 13 single rooms and 2 two bedded rooms. They all have ensuite facilities and access to their own private patio area overlooking the garden and countryside. The rooms are designed to be as comfortable and homely as possible.

 

2017  – Refurbishment of entrance, link plus 2 storey extension & car park extensions – £3m

2018 – Insurance valuation – £18.3m

2019 – ‘The Green’ – £2m

The Green project includes the construction of a glazed glulam structure over the existing courtyard garden and substantial remodelling and refurbishment of the adjacent rooms.  A new kitchen will also be installed. The estimated construction cost is circa £2m with the procurement route being a two-stage tender using the Intermediate Form of Contract with Contractors Design 2016.
